08/31/2003 - Sunday - Helped tear down the main landmarks of our site today. Packed my Tent, helped with the radio tower, pulled alot of 3 and 4 foot stakes out of the ground!, and tore down the 'chill space', then hleped tear down the shower, and burn it. Caught my arm hairs on fire! At first i thought it was my goatie... eeek. Luckly just arm hairs no biggie. After a wonderful home made chili dinner,I finallized my packing, and drove most of the night (til 2:30am) to Bishop, CA.

08/30/2003 - Saturday - I have been bad at loging in and updating the site. |Definately have not fhad any interest in figuring hout how to upload pictures from linux. The pictures will have to wiait till i retunr. Please keep those emails coming. I am part of the tear down crew for the comfort camp. Takes alot to get all this art up and taken down. We are burning the shower and stripper pole platform tonight. There is a 2nd burn tonight. Should be fun.

Its going to be hard to write something about this event. There is just so much to it that it makes it really hard to describe. I truely understand why people find this life changing. Its a once in a life time experience.

Ceneter camp was wild

Wednesday did hokie pokie at 10am with Bob and Marvin. They actually blared the Hokie Pokie on the speakers and got into the street with a bull horn and talked others into dancing with us in the street! A TON of FUN. Ran into bill and megan on plya.

Need more funky and cool temp clothes. Maybe. Like ernie and spongebob. Did some nos wed and wedding day.

08/29/2003 - Friday - Relaxing day. Late morning around ten. Headed out to the airport. Picked up pager from car. Came back to camp went and got ice and coffee with erika. In center camp. Came back did a back roads ride towards 3 o'clock. Found the stereo blasting at two. Headed out to deep playa. Thr edge. Enjoyed the cool breeze on my body. Walked the back fence to the farthest point. Met the rocketman. The drinking fountain. The rocks in deep playa. And rode by beauties camp. Came back had wonderful dinner prepared by erika and sabine. Some vegitarian dish with lots tomato sauce and peelauf. Had brownies and fruit with chocolate fondue. Interesting ride outthe playa. Went out first and flaming hands which guests progrmamed in the pattern of finger flaming. The most popular was the huge tower that came from middle finger when you held it down a long time. Went then to center camp where a drum thing was going. With art cars blowing flames to the beat of the drums. Several police were driving around keeping eyes on things. The base of the man had people sitting in trianglular booths talking to people. Not sure about what I was pretty tired att this point and wasn't into socializing.

Erika and I made poi at 11.

So I headed towards club kraftwerk. Which wasn't starting yet. Met the two doing a goth club before. They offered some punch and water. Danced a bit then just sat. Wandered around found dance dance revolution. The club only played a couple kraftwerk songs.

08/28/2003 - Thursday - Well I think it's Thursday or maybe Friday Morning. I have sent myself several notes on paper and the pager. It went to Reno NV today with Craig when he picked up his wife. I have yet to read it. It is amazing how easy it is to adapt to this place. Well more on that later. Tonight the link is slow... and its's about 2am, I'm going to go enjoy the sites some more. I just wanted to see if thing works, and it looks like it does. This is SpongeBob signing off. Beep

This was the big veggg day. Spent most of the day sleeping. Picked up my soulmate. some guy who sounds scary. Went to a playa wedding for paul and someone grom germany. He moved there. Had some really cool german choclate egg that was milk chocolate outside and white inside. With the yoke being a plastic toy car. The bus we rode out on had parts from last years temple of honor. The driver and the folks on the lower part worked on the temple of honor. Nice back. They dropped me off at thermocracken which took a while to get fired up but was beautiful. Red theough head. Green blue and orange through arms. Driping to the playa. Got a ride back from customer dservice. A big pink truck with a phone with a phone tree. Ended up going out with kevin sabine and erika to club depeche mode. Stayed til the place closed. Sabines bike was snagged. So she borrowed the one I was using to ride back. I closed the club down at 3am. On my walk back I spotted a bike in the middle of thekey hole. On closer inspection it was sabines.

I think I chceked email in center camp before going to depeche mode. Worked perfect. Very slow. Chatted with chris. Had to ask him what day it was. And time. Its so easy to lose yourself here.

08/27/2003 - Woke up. Went to centercamp to get coffee again. Did the hokee pokee. Be cause you never know that's what it could all be about. Wondered to costco and had to reapply. Wandered some.

Checked with the glass blowers to see if they had pendants.

Some other things happened. Hung with kerry and kevin. Lars was going to go with us but hung and talked with brady. Adam from mohito hut hung with us a little. The three of us set out to walk around they playa. Went deep for me. Saw the vote of fire on thursday. Vortex of fire. Stopped by glass blowers again kerry liked it. Cruised around to man. Then went deeper to the temple of honor. The lights around the man in the ground making up what I think is the fire circle was cool. It chased around and around. The TOH was interesting and completely wood. This will get burned sunday. After the frat boys leave. From there we wandered past the 3 tvs in the playa with pictures painted on them with static in the back. Cool. A little chair was there facing the tvs and a mirror. So u coukd watch urself vegg. Went onto a KK religous art piece that show lasers theough symbols from the various religons onto the ground. It was about this time we parted ways. Wait one night we headed back to camp and chilled in the chill space from 12 to 3am. With mark kerry kevin erika a bit. IMMhv. So tuesday must have been club xarus. And the orange wall. Because I looked at the wall wednesday morning.

08/26/2003 - Tuesday - Ill write about yester later. Woke up today nice and slow. The bedroll fits my back well I feel great. Nobody else was around when I finally wokr up. Also a storm decided to roll in. So the wind had started blowing. I got up had a breakfast bar and picked some things outta the truck. My truck is parcked oway from camp over by the porta poddies. Since nobody was up I decided to goto center camp and get some coffee. Coffee is the only thing that is 'sold' at burning man.

Wakinh ip to the storm and my first real site of burning man was interestinh. There are so many artistic camps. People make huge shade structures to protect from the sun. But why do something boring. Why not make a statement. Make it in your face. Walking to center camp let me make some observations.

First you need goggles. With the slightest breeze ... Playa dust is everywhere. And playa dust isn't normal dust. Its the supper fine silt that is at the botom of a lake. So its totally airbotne in.

So its morning. The place is just starting to gert moving. A camp to my left has a jug full of eggs whiping ip. A few feet later a completely naked woman is pounding a few extra stakes into the ground to hold thigngs in for the impending storm. Everyone I pass says hi ... Morning ... Nice ernie shirt. Its very social. Doesn't matter what you do here. Even writing messages on your rim isn't feowned on.

Well the dust is so thick I almist walked past center camp. On my way in I caught beauty at the ranger camp. She didn't recognize me with my head shaved and purple goatie.

Center camp is like mad max meets i don't know the cantina bar in starwars. There are lots of people obviously decompressing from last night. But everyone is here for the coffee. Several people aren't wearing clothes. There is a naked gys standing near me meddidating and strethching. There are so many topless girls here it mind numming. It totally doesn't phaze me to see a naked gitl and talk to her without checking her out. ArgHhhhhhhhhh.

So I should explain center camp some. Its a large open tent. Few walls just openings. Its about 200 ft in diameter. All shade material not dark stuff. So its light up. Some one has put tons of couches wodden beches. Some light that look loke aluminum palm trees. Tons of rugs cofver the floot. A good vree3 is going through. I'm sittlinh here watchin gpeople get coggee and writing. Ill take some pictures later.

08/25/2003 - Its 8am, I'm packed up and leaving for Gerlach. Seems the burningman.com web site is down, but i found a link to the map of The Play, so that the above location makes sense. Also... beard is now purple not blue. :-P

Had a great time hanging out with Lorna and Noel. Natalia is quite the character, always smilling, laughing and wanting stories read. My favorite was the one about Big Mouthed Frogs... and I eat Flies!

08/23/2003 - I leave for Burning Man heading first up to Bakersfield to visit Noel, then push onto the Man on the 25th. Check back for updates. I should be at camp by Monday afternoon/evening.
